This includes engagement, assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, family meetings, supportive psychotherapy, patient education, and risk assessment, and discharge planning. Has a defined caseload, has productivity goals, and meets the psychiatric needs of any consumer assigned to their clinic. Participates in onâ"call rotation for the system.
Participates in utilization management and quality improvement activities. Functions as the senior clinician on the team. Reports to the Chief Psychiatrist and Area Medical Director for clinical performance and the Site Administrator or Clinical Director for administrative performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
Serves as the attending psychiatrist/nurse practitioner to assigned consumers. Completes initial psychiatric assessments, progress notes, annual psychiatric updates, family interventions, develops differential diagnostic assessments, assessments of capacity for consent to treatment, risk assessments, patient education, progress towards treatment goals including medical, psychological, social, behavioral and developmental aspects of the consumer''s situation. 2. Documents consumer''s progress in the clinical record in addition to medication flow sheets according to established policy.
Completes medication education and informed consent when possible. 3. Documents all activities in the clinical record according to policy using approved forms. 4.
Orders followâ"up blood levels and supportive laboratory tests according to standard medical practice. Reviews the health assessment completed by nursing staff, obtains a past and current medical history. Initiates contact with Primary Care Physicians, Emergency Room clinicians and psychotherapists according to established guidelines. 5.
Assesses consumers'' needs and guides the clinical team while managing treatment plan updates, in addition to initiating contact with outside Providers according to established guidelines. 6. Serves as onâ"call as directed; appoints a designee in the event of nonâ"availability. 7.
Practices according to evidenceâ"based practices and DBHS Performance Improvement Protocols and Technical Assistance Documents as posted on the DBHS website. 8. Actively participates in the Clinical Peer Supervision process as described in the Policy and Protocol consisting of weekly hourly supervision with the Chief Psychiatrist on difficult cases or as designated by the Direct Services Medical Director. 9.
Provides necessary information to clinical team regarding inpatient utilization. Utilizes appropriate medication based on best practices, in addition to appropriately completing required documentation for preauthorization of pharmacy services. 10. Participates in all Quality Improvement activities as required including but not limited to polypharmacy.
11. Participates according to the recovery model and Arnold v. Sarn principles; knows and practices engagement skills including motivational interviewing; and assists consumers to define and achieve their own recovery goals. 12.
Identifies potential barriers to quality care and opportunities for improvement and reports them to the Chief Psychiatrist and/or Area Medical Director. 13. Works closely with other personnel to ensure that each treatment modality is appropriate for the consumer in addition to working with outside psychiatric providers in crisis and inpatient services. 14.
Performs specialized duties as required by special clinical situations or treatment populations consistent with license and scope of practice such as reviewing and signing all amendments and PAD petitions originated at their clinic; evaluates consumers for continuation of court ordered treatment; or prepares medical reports to the Psychiatric Security Review Board or Superior Court including treatment plan changes for those consumers on conditional release form Arizona State Hospital and receiving services at their clinic; and completes Specialized Treatment Plan (STP) and Forced medication Sheet (B form) whenever a consumer is placed on Court Ordered Treatment or needs to return to inpatient treatment on an Amended Court Order Treatment due to nonâ"compliance. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Completion of an accredited NP program with Psychiatric Mental Health Certification or ANCC Certified as Psyâ"NP. Licensures: Licensed by the State of Arizona; eligible for Board Certification and valid DEA Certification. Relevant Work Experience: Three (3) or more postâ"doctoral years'' experience in the delivery of mental health treatment of children/adolescents/adults. Employee Compliance Related Criteria: * Adheres to the components of the Compliance Program.
