Nursing Sim & Tech Coord
JOB SUMMARY:
The Nursing Simulation & Technology Coordinat! or collaborates with nursing faculty and staff while performing duties essential to the achievement of departmental goals for simulation and technology. The main purpose of this position is to function as a planner, developer, consultant, coordinator, and resource person for simulation in the Nursing Skills and Simulation labs and to provide a full range of technology support services to nursing faculty and staff to ecouarge full utilization of technology within the nursing program. This is a non-faculty, non-teaching position and does not provide instruction to students at any time. The Nursing Simulation & Technology Coordinator independently administers assigned responsibilities while ensuring a smooth execution and excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Provides a full range of technology support services for the nursing program, including but not limited to working with the nursing faculty to manage and administer the nursing lab experience by:
- Advising and consulting with the Campus Nursing Director and Nursing Faculty in reference to clinical scheduling.
- Establishing and updating policies and standard practices related to the use of simulation technology.
- Developing, presenting, evaluating, and refining scenarios utilized for simulation experiences utilizing role playing, props, and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment.
- Developing new simulation experiences based on student or faculty identified needs and serving as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/labs.
- Ensuring the completion of an annual inventory of the nursing skills and simulation laboratories.
- Ensuring the safe storage of hazardous materials, including m! edications, and overseeing the collection and disposal of waste materials according to regulations.
- Determining the inventory needs for the nursing simulation laboratory.
- Scheduling use of the labs and or equipment plus clinicals
- Providing advice & orientation to instructors regarding simulation laboratory procedures, location and use of materials, and the operation of equipment.
- Recommending and/or performing maintenance or repairs of equipment in the nursing simulation laboratory; initiating and coordinating approved simulation laboratory renovations and repairs.
- Maintaining a current working knowledge of safety regulations.
- Establishing and maintaining safety policies within the nursing skills and simulation laboritories and clinical setting
- Checking and maintaining safety equipment.
- Providing training and enforcing safety procedures to individuals, including faculty and staff.
- Designing sim! ulation experiences using manikins (Sim Man, adult vital sim, child, in! fant, Birthing Noelle, Sim man and various equipment dealing with fluids, etc.) for clinical lab sessions (up to 25% for each nursing clinical course).
- Designing a workable space for Sim Man use with audio and video recording capabilities used for de-briefing.
- Developing simulation policies and standard practices related to the use of simulation technology.
- Demonstrating Smart Board applications including test response clickers and assisting faculty in learning to utilize this technology to its fullest potential.
- Orientating new faculty to, and troubleshoot of, electronic grade book.
- Ensuring the nursing department website is current.
- Coordinating and assisting with Virtual Clinical Excursion (VCEâs) and all computer based programs, including utilizing textbook computer resources.
- Setting up, coordinating, and posting results of all Student Course Evaluations (Classroom, lab, clinical, graduation,etc..) via co! mputer database.
- Assisting faculty in preparing for the Student Success Program so that it is as interactive as possible utilizing websites, games, and other appropriate strategies.
- Setting up, orientating, and trouble shooting of Electronic Health Record.

Supervision:
Works under the general supervision of the Campus Nursing Director. This position does not supervise other personnel.
