Overview

In this autonomous position, the

Wound/Ostomy Nurse

will be responsible for hands-on patient assessment, creation of evidence based treatment plans, thorough documentation and education

for all patients including in-patient, out-patient, pre-operative and post-operative patients as consulted by the physician.

The

Wound/ Ostomy Nurse

will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wounds (acute and chronic), ostomies and skin care issues for patients. In addition, the

Wound/Ostomy Nurse is a resource

for patients with draining wounds, fistulas, pressure sores, and skin problems.

The

Wound/Ostomy Nurse

will also develop and provide nursing education for ostomy, wound, and skin care for optimal patient care.

Participates in ongoing educational activities (! including in-services, continuing education and formal education) to expand oncology and wound knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues. The Wound/ Ostomy Nurse is accountable for practicing within the defined scope of practice for the Registered Nurse and is committed to providing safe, quality

wound, ostomy and skin care

.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited program of nursing.

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in Arizona

Minimum two years previous experience in medical-surgical units with wounds, ostomies and post-operative devices

Current BLS certification

Experience in multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.

Membership and active involvement in any wound / ostomy organization preferred

WOCN or WCC certification preferred; must obtain within 3 months of hire
