Location: Tucson Arizona

Description: Carondelet Health Network is in need of RN - SEASONAL- 1 right now, this position will be placed in Arizona. Further informations about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. The Seasonal RN has mastered basic technical and organizational nursing skills. Has skills in evaluating patient responses and uses past experiences and evidence-based practices in providing care and decision- ! making. There is a focus on outcomes, and care is delivered using a systematic approach. The Seasonal RN is able to make independent decisions guided by experience, as well as policies and standards. Consults with other members of the healthcare team when necessary. Maintain acceptable standards of patient care within the clinical area. The seasonal RN is assigned to a specific patient care unit. The seasonal RN tour of duty is no longer than 9 months and based on the organization’s staffing needs.

POSITION DUTIES:
Nursing Process

1.1 Assessment - An RN uses a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about a client, the first step in delivering nursing care. Assessment includes not only physiological data, but also psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors as well.

1.2 Problem Identification - Problem identification is ! the nurse’s clinical judgment about the client’s response to actual or potential health conditions or needs.

1.3 Planning and Outcomes â€" Based on the assessment and problem identification, the nurse sets measurable and achievable short- and long-range goals in collaboration with the patient and family. Assessment data, problem identification, and goals are written in the patient’s care plan so that nurses as well as other health professionals caring for the patient have access to it.

o Establishing daily goals with the patient and family

o Formulating a plan of care

o Transition or Discharge planning

1.4 Implementation â€" Nursing care is implemented according to the care plan, so continuity of care for the patient during hospitalization and in preparation for discharge is assured. Care is documented in the patient’s record.

o Documentation in healthcare record

1.5 Evaluation â€" Both the patient’s status and the effectiveness of the nursing care must be continuously evaluated, and the care plan modified as needed.

1.6 Care Coordination â€" Actions initiated by nurses with patients, families, and/or members of their healthcare team to manage and correct the sequence, timing, and/or effectiveness of patient care from admission to discharge.

5. Ethics

Identify role of CHN Ethics Committee and demonstrate understanding on how to obtain an ethics consultation. Identify tha! t the “Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services” which serves as a guideline for addressing ethical issues at CHN. Practice is consistent with the American Nurses Association “Code of Ethics for Nurses”. Apply knowledge of palliative care and end of life issues when aggressive, life-extending interventions are no longer desired. This includes the use of interdisciplinary resources.

6. Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)

Access nursing databases available through CAROL for resources to support practice. Take CHN Evidence-Based practice course or complete EBP SLP. Practice demonstrates incorporation of EBP concepts. Respond positively to evidence-based unit or organizational change.

7. Clinical Excellence

Recognize patterns in patient presentations and intervene and / or access appropriate resources. Correctly identify and perform nursing interventions that improve patient outcomes. Communicate effectively with pe! ers, physicians, hospital departments, and other hospital resources to ! effectively manage patient care. Effectively prioritize and manage patient assignment and assume proactive role in crisis and while under stress.

8. Relationship-Based Care

Individualize care. Foster therapeutic relationships. Approach patients and families with compassion, and offer emotional support. Practice recognition of impact of family on patient outcomes. Inquire as to patient belief system, offer spiritual support, and seek appropriate resources. Recognize and respect cultural and spiritual differences and practice culturally competent care.

9. Collaboration

Recognize need for interdisciplinary contributions to the patient plan of care. Value collective contributions of interdisciplinary team members. Use SBAR reporting in communications with physicians. Demonstrate support, validation, and respect for team members to establish a foundation to care compassionately for patients and families.

Delega! te effectively according to the five rights for delegation: Right task, right circumstances, right person, right direction, and right supervision. Demonstrate clinical competence, confidence, and clarity in communications with co-workers.

11. Teaching

Complete a patient assessment and provide an interpretation of the patient’s condition, and give rational for the plan of care to the patient and family. Recognize and assist students to engage in leaning opportunities. Maintain a positive learning environment. Use established policies and procedures in teaching others. Teach by example and accurately identify own learning needs, acknowledging limitations and accessing necessary resources.

12. Safety/Quality Improvement

Protect patient from harm and recognize risk management concerns and take action to prevent future occurrences. Use information generated from organizational quality improvement processes in the selection and application of! nursing interventions. Assign or delegate tasks based on the needs/con! dition of the patient, potential of harm, stability of the patient condition, and task complexity.

13. Provide a safe, functional, supportive and effective environment for all patients, staff members and other individuals utilizing CHN facilities.

Protect patients from harm and report risk management concerns. Identify location of Hazardous Communication Manual(s) and identify use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); Describe the procedure for handling spills involving hazardous materials and waste; Define the acronym RACER; Respond with appropriate phone numbers to call to report emergencies; Describe location of Emergency Preparedness Manual and describe primary component.
