AMR River Medical is seeking Critical Care Transport Nurses for their Lake Havasu, Kingman and Parker operations. While providing the highest quality care, the CCT Nurse performs basic, advanced l! ife support and critical care nursing. AMR patients include individuals coming out of definitive observation units, Emergency Rooms or Intensive Care Unitâs who often are transported because of a need for a higher level of care.
The CCT Nurse must be able to administer emergent and critical care to a patient population which ranges from neonates to geriatrics utilizing the nursing process. The CCT Nurse functions under standing orders of the sending physician or the AMR medical director. The CCT Nurse must work cooperatively and interdependently with pre-hospital and hospital personnel to optimize the care of patients requiring critical care stabilization and transportation.
During inter-facility and 911 transports the CCT Nurse monitors patients while performing
assessments and treatments. A Critical Care Transport Nurse at AMR River Medical is part of a standard three-person team which consists of 1 Emergency Medical Technician, 1 Critical Care Par! amedic and 1 CCT RN. The CCT will respond to both emergency 91! 1 and inter-facility transfers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess patient needs in pre-hospital and hospital settings utilizing accepted nursing and paramedic standards. Sets priorities of care rapidly and accurately under all conditions and in varied environments. Functions in the field with out direct supervision utilizing assessment skills and River Medical written standard medical guidelines when physician contact is not possible, and accepts responsibilities for such actions.
Responsible for patient care during transport, utilizes assessment skills in the identification of the patientâs physical, psychological and spiritual needs. Evaluate the patientâs vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, respiratory and neurological status as condition warrants.
Plan and implement interventions based on knowledge of physical and behavioral sciences.
Maintain excellent documentation skills. Adheres to River Medical requirements for clinica! l documentation, assures documentation of demographics information for billing and collection purposes.
Provide all aspects of Critical Care monitoring and treatment as permitted by the Medical Director, River Medical Clinical Education and State Regulatory Agencies, up and including the following skills:
12 lead EKG interpretation and treatment modalities
Inter-Cranial pressure Monitoring
Chest tube placement and management in applicable markets
Rapid Sequence Induction â" (RSI)
Surgical Cricothyrotomy
Administration of whole blood, packed red blood cells (PRBC), fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and other blood components.
Administration and monitoring of drug therapies based on patient conditions as outlined in current medical direction guidelines.
Administers controlled substances as indicated by patient condition, documents all narcotic use on River Medical narcotic logs and documents all narcotics wastes in the narcotics log and on patient! care record with RN/CEP witness. Documents patient response to all med! ications after administration.
Required to attend 80 hours of initial training with successful completion of course outline. Participates in required in-services and additional training as required by local and regional clinical services. Completes all clinical experiences as required by local Medical Director and River Medical Clinical Services.
Maintain competency and is proficient in the use of all supplies/ equipment used for patient care. Competency must be maintained in the use of the following:
Communication equipment and handheld and mobile radios
12 lead EKG monitors and interpretation of cardiac rhythms displayed
Cardiac defibrillation equipment
Arterial Pressure monitoring equipment and pressure monitoring lines
End Tidal CO2 Monitoring devices
Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) insertion
Combitube insertion
King LT Airway insertion
Air Trac insertion
Endotracheal Tube Introducer (Bouggie)
Endotracheal tube equipment Successful intubation of Adult, Child and Infant (to be done quarterly)
Surgical Airway devices
EZ-IO insertion equipment
Swan-Ganz catheter monitoring
IABP counterpulsation therapies, timing, monitoring, troubleshooting and loading/unloading from ambulance where applicable.
Transport ventilator (LTV-1200) including troubleshooting and adjusting according to patientâs ventilation needs. (to be done quarterly)
Administration of all blood products, fluid warming devices, porta-cath access.
Other medical device/ supplies as directed by River Medical Clinical Services and/or Medical Director.
Visually assure all medical equipment is accounted for at beginning of shift. Completes equipment check off reports and required by River Medical and State Regulations.
Adheres to all communication policies and procedures relating to patient care, response times, schedule availability and vehicle operations.
Provide for patient and team safety a! t all times. Support and promote safe operation of the vehicle and part! icipates appropriately in local safety meetings. Actively promotes company safety standards.
Actively participate and report operational changes, problems and situations to the oncoming crew and leadership team. Assure daily comprehensive shift check offs of equipment and supplies are done.
Participates in public/community relations activities including education assignments which may include speaking to groups
Participate in process improvement and educational programs. Participates in chart reviews and in service presentations. Attends meetings as required by the leadership team, local Medical Director and Clinical Services.
Maintain excellent customer service skills. Adheres to River Medical customer service policy, and is willing to accept responsibility and subsequent consequences for deviations.
