Work! ing in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), the cardiovascular nurse is responsible for administering care for patients following open-heart surgery. Considered to be the most highly specialized and critical intensive care unit, the CVICU is also sometimes responsible for the treatment and care of heart transplant patients.
