A start up pharmacy specialized in dispensing hospice medications is looking for a Pharmacist in Charge to be a part of this exciting new venture in the Phoenix market. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for a specialized pharmacy; compound and dispense prescribed medications; provides functional supervisor for professional, technical and support staff; and performs related duties as required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains records of all transactions of the pharmacy to ensure accurate control over and accountability of all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; ensures legal operation of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and other requirements of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing pharmacy operations.
- Fills prescriptions for pharmaceutical preparations for delivery to residences and local facilities in the Phoenix Metropolitan area; maintains accurate and detailed records of all prescription transactions; consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions; advised physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective and innovative therapies; answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff; monitors storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals.
- Provides supervision to professional, technical and support staff; including training, assigning duties, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
- Knowledge of inventory control and business acumen as it relates to the operation of a pharmacy
- Knowledge of the uniqueness of medication use in hospice
- Knowledge of the use and dispensing of opiates; compounding of prescriptions and stock pharmaceutical preparations; and medical record keeping requirements and procedures
- The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of drugs; including their chemical biological, and physical properties
- Ability to supervise support staff and ensure an efficient work flow
- Ability to work accurately in a fast paced environment
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
Education, training, experience:
- Bachelorâs degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- Minimum two years pharmacy management experience in high volume setting
- Possession of a valid Pharmacist license issued by the Arizona Board of Pharmacy
