Assumes responsibility for coordination and performance of administrative functions for hospital operations during off-shift hours, on weekends, and holidays when regular hospital administration is not on-site. Supports hospital on-site management during regular business hours as necessary. Acts as the Incident Commander until relieved by a more senior administrator during a hospital disaster. Provides guidance and assistance to hospital personnel regarding patient care. Interpret and oversee the application of policies and procedures. Assures quality of care is in compliance with accepted standards. Oversees assignment of patient care services staff from Central Resource Team to units. Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care.
POSITION DUTIES: Overall Rating *
Level 1 â€" Skilled
1.1 Coordinate administrative functions for hospital operations during off-shift hours, on weekends, and holidays when regular hospital administration is not on site.
1.2 Supports hospital on-site management during regular business.
1.3 Provide input into the budgetary process.
1.4 Facilitate required departmental staffing adjustments to ensure cost-effective delivery of quality care and services.
1.5 Oversee flow of medical charts, supplies, and staffing to maintain adequate levels.
1.6 Maintain unit’s compliance with hospital procedures and policies.
1.7 Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
1.8 Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks according to urgency. Develop a routine that allows for maximum use of time. Exhibit ability to effectively multitask.
Level 2 â€" Proficient (in addition to above duties)
2.1 Demonstrate knowledge of hospital procedures and protocol.
2.2 Provide assistance with special events and/or projects as requested.
Level 3 â€" Subject Matter Expert (in addition to above duties)
3.1 Support and participate in revising policies and procedures.
3.3 Participate in hospital safety and quality programs.
3.4 Monitor the efficiency of the unit’s operations and recommend improvements.

Identify the location of Hazardous Communication Manual(s), Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and Emergency Preparedness Manual. Follow all emergency and safety policies and procedures of CHN. Meet SLP annual requirements. Respond with appropriate phone numbers to report emergencies.

Relationships:
Responsible for coordination of patient care service activities for the scheduled working shift, in accordance with established philosophy, objectives, and policies to ensure safe and efficient, patient care. Assures that hospital policies and procedures are followed and notifies management on call of problems of an unusual, significant, or complex nature.
Dimensions:
Responsible for overseeing and facilitating patient flow throughout the hospital by minimizing delays and mitigating barriers and bottlenecks to hospital throughput. Responsible for appropriate communication for follow up of patient and physician concerns. Assumes responsibility for coordination and performance of administrative functions for hospital operations during off shift hours, on weekends, and holidays when regular hospital administration is not on site.
