Position Qu! alifications:
Minimum education and/or experience: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a valid unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Preferred education and/or experience: Bachelorâs degree in Nursing (BSN) and two (2) years current nursing experience. Community based nursing experience and/or immunization nursing experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills must be flexible and able to work in variable settings and with variable assignments. Able to work with diverse population groups. Bilingual skills helpful. Able to maintain clear and accurate documentation. Ability to self-motivate and work in a stressful environment. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance. Specialized training, certifications, or other special requirements: Valid unrestricted license as an RN issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. ! Current CPR certification required. Valid Arizona driverâs l! icense and reliable transportation required. Must be willing to travel among all three county immunization clinics. Participates in emergency response training as scheduled and must be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency. Immunization clinics are located throughout Maricopa County; clinic shifts close to home may not always be possible. Preferred special requirements: Spanish speaking ability preferred. NOTE: Degrees/credits must be from an academically accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education (CHEA).
Essential Job Tasks:
Provide immunizations to children in high volume (100-300 clients per 8-9 hour clinic) clinics in various locations throughout the County. Transport supplies and vaccines, prepare clinic site, screen records, administer vaccine and lead clinic programs. Maintain clear and accurate documentation of activities throug! h nurseâs notes, reporting forms, consent forms, phone logs, computer databases, etc. Collaborate/communicate with community agencies, and other County, State and Federal agencies regarding urgent or noteworthy events in immunizations, communicable disease and other events in public health. Share/update information through in-services, participation in staff meetings, attendance at regional/State meetings, and personal mentoring and training of Community Health staff. Develop and implement community based programs and activities and respond to Department requirements to meet a community need. Provide presentations on immunizations, communicable diseases, safety, and other public health issues to citizens, schools, child care centers, businesses and health care providers. Investigate communicable disease reports including interviews, completing forms, providing health education and counseling, and assure that chemo prophylaxis and/or vaccine are received if indicated.
