Selection of suitable plasmapheresis donors by performing physical examina! tions and taking medical histories on all donors, and through the use of FDA approved Standard Operating Procedure Manual (with particular detailed attention to communications related to AIDS information and plasmapheresis informed consent), current State and Federal guidelines, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, all internal company procedures and personal education and experience.
Timely review of accumulated data to confirm established donor suitability, by reviewing and signing all SPE and RPR results and the related Donor Record File, documenting acceptance or rejection for the donor’s continued participation in the program.
Administers or supervises all approved immunizations according to established protocol.
Assist with management and administration of donor counseling, testing, and follow-up of employee exposures to blood or plasma.
Provide appropriate and confidential counseling to unacceptable donors.
Provide appropriate level of care during unusual or sever! e donor reactions.
Assist in employee training as necessar! y.
Consult with Medical/Laboratory Director as required by company policies.
Report all unsafe situations or conditions to supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Current certification/licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (Advanced or Paramedic), Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, PA or ARNP
Current CPR certification
Willingness to become certified as a Physician Substitute and Donor Processor within 2 months of employment as well as to obtain phlebotomy certification
Prior experience providing medical care and assessing patients is preferred, especially with plasma and whole blood.
Attributes:
Manual dexterity to perform all technical duties within scope of center operations.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time â€" up to four (4) hours at a time.
Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifty (50) pounds.
Ability to view video display terminal less than 18’’ away ! from face â€" up to four (4) hours a time.
Ability to articulate clearly.
Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.
