The Patient Care Tech/Unit Secretary position is comprised of performing selected patient care activities under the direction of Registered Nurse and/or Supervisor. Accountable for timely, accurate and concise performance of clerical duties and other assignments under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Supervisor. May be responsible for being the point of contact for patients and families while they are receiving services at John C.! Lincoln Hospitals by making initial phone contact with the pa! tient prior to their visit to ensure their questions are answered and to assist with directions/accommodations. May, when necessary, greet the patients and families upon arrival and ensure that they remain comfortable and well taken care of throughout their stay. May act as a liaison between the patient/families and clinical staff/physicians. Is an integral member of the team that supports quality patient care. Works collaboratively with patients and families, physicians, nurses, management, and support staff to promote efficient and empathic care.
Provides patient care in support of nursing staff.
Performs clerical procedures and other tasks for a unit or group.
Documentation is performed as required.
May, as needed, communicate with patients and families prior to their arrival regarding scheduled procedures.
May, as needed, greet patients and families upon arrival, provides welcome materials, refreshments, and facility information as appropriate.
M! ay, as needed, ensure patients/family members remain comfortable and well taken care of throughout their stay.
Maintains patient/unit environment in a clean and safe manner. Provides a safe clean comfortable environment/unit for the patient as evidenced by observation. Identifies and reports potential and active environmental safety hazards.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
0-6 months experience
Certified Nursing Assistant, (CNA) OR National Registry or Arizona Certification as Emergency Medical Tech (EMT), Intermediate Emergency Medical Tech (IEMT), OR Paramedic, OR Current nursing student who has successfully completed the 1st clinical semester nursing student (Note: current proof of enrollment as nursing student must be maintained to remain in this position if not a CNA or EMT/Paramedic.)
Employees who accept this position must complete the JCLHN PCT skills class within 90 days of hire into this position. Incumbents are not al! lowed to perform any duties above those of a CNA (such as EKGs, IV Remo! val, Foley Cath Insert and Removal, and sterile dressing) until successfully completing the PCT class and clinical competencies associated with the class and this position.
